Vishay Foil
Resistors
More
than four and a half decades after its invention by physicist Dr.
Felix Zandman in 1962, Bulk Metal® Foil (BMF) technology still
outperforms all other resistor technologies available today for
applications that require precision, stability, and reliability.
VPG's unique, ultra precision Bulk Metal Foil resistor products
provide extremely low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR)
and
exceptional long-term stability through temperature extremes.
The
Vishay Foil Resistors portfolio comprises products in a variety of
resistor configurations and package types to meet the needs of a
wide
range of applications: discrete resistors and resistor networks in
surface mount and through-hole (leaded) configurations; customized
chip resistor networks; precision trimming potentiometers; and
discrete chips for use in hybrid circuits.
In
2000, VPG achieved a technological breakthrough with the
introduction
of Bulk Metal® Z-Foil. Products built on this revolutionary
technology deliver an absolute temperature coefficient of resistance
(TCR) of 0.2 ppm/°C. The lower the TCR, the better a resistor can
maintain its precise value despite ambient temperature variations
and
self-heating when power is applied. VPG's Bulk Metal Foil resistors
are essentially non-inductive (less than 0.08 micro Henrys) and not
capacitive, providing a rise time of about 1 nanosecond, making it
particularly suitable for high frequency application. Furthermore,
its thermal EMF is less than 0.05 µV/°C making it particularly
important for low-ohmic DC applications.
With
the award-winning Bulk Metal® Foil resistors, designers can
significantly reduce circuit errors and greatly improve overall
circuit performance. By taking advantage of the overall stability,
high-frequency performance, and reliability of Bulk Metal®
technology we can produce customer-oriented products designed to
satisfy challenging technical requirements.
